Inia Te Wiata showed promise as a singer from an early age and in 1947 he was granted a government scholarship to study music for three years in London. He was a successful student and went on to perform in many operas at Covent Garden. These are stories of 30 of New Zealand's most famous people including their childhood and education, the paths that led to the achievements for which they became well known and their influence upon New Zealand's history and culture.
