About this title.

Cyclone Giselle reached Cape Reinga early on the morning of April 9, 1968 and brought havoc to the Northland region. It swept down the country causing widespread damage and struck Wellington with devastating effect on April 10 when it caused the huge seas that sank the Wahine. This is the story of one of the worst disasters in New Zealand history documenting it at a level which is readily accessible for young people. It also looks at the effects of this event upon the lives of people, and the ways in which institutions and individuals coped with the disaster. With original photographs.
