Catherine Tizard became the first woman to be elected Mayor of Auckland in 1983. She was also the first woman to be appointed Governor General of New Zealand in 1990 and she recieved many honours and awards along the way. These are stories of 30 of New Zealand's most famous people including their childhood and education, the paths that led to the achievements for which they became well known and their influence upon New Zealand's history and culture.
