About this title.

Initial activities encourage the use of concrete materials to establish the concept of addition through real life number stories. The following activities allow students to consolidate the addition concept while providing a pool of strategies to promote mental and written computation. A simple format allows students to work independently or in small groups, and consolidation tasks have been included to allow students to practise strategies they have learnt mentally and in an abstract from. Where appropriate, asessment indicators have been included to assist student progress.
